A Wonderful Nativity
Thank you to everyone who joined with the children and staff to celebrate Christmas at our annual nativity play and carol service.
St Matthew’s Church was packed full of parents, family and friends as the youngest children, dressed as angels, wise men, shepherds and, of course, Mary and Joseph, performed the story of the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The oldest children presented eloquent Christmas readings and everyone joined in heartily to sing traditional carols. The children in Year 4 who are all learning to play the clarinet entertained with a musical rendition of “Jingle Bells.” The school choir also performed two Christmas songs.
We are very proud of our children’s achievements. The quality of singing is excellent, with the children singing "Holy Child" in three-part harmony! It was great to see so many parents and friends of our school filling the church to support the children; in fact it was standing room only! There was a lovely atmosphere; St Matthew’s has a real sense of community. The encouragement and high expectations of the children enable them to succeed and enjoy the many activities at St Matthew’s School.
