Breakfast Club and After School Care
Breakfast Club
Many of the children at St Matthew’s, from reception class up to Year 6, enjoy attending our Breakfast Club, which runs each morning in the school hall from 8.00am until school starts.
The children enjoy a healthy, freshly prepared breakfast, consisting of cereal, porridge, toast, fruit, yogurt, milk shake and pure juice or water. In the winter months beans or egg on toast is also available.
The children then enjoy a range of activities including colouring and drawing, puzzles, board games, reading, construction toys. For the more energetic children there are supervised games in the hall.
Children do not have to attend every day we can take them in on a more flexible basis.
Breakfast Club costs £2.00 per child per day. This can be paid each day when the children arrives at Breakfast Club or termly or weekly in advance.
If you would like your child to have a place at the Breakfast Club, please click here to print and complete the authorisation form. Please return signed forms to the school office.
After- school childcare
In addition to St Matthew’s own wide range of after-school clubs (see below) which usually last an hour from 3.15 – 4.15pm, the school has an arrangement with Redhill YMCA to provide childcare from 3.30pm – 6.00pm. The YMCA minibus collects the children from St Matthew’s each day at 3.15pm to take them to the “Boilerhouse” after-school club at the YMCA centre in Princes Road, Redhill. For £7.50 per day the children can enjoy a wide range of activities including arts and craft, sports, cooking and a weekly homework club supervised by YMCA’s team of qualified playleaders.
St Matthew’s School’s own after-school clubs, run voluntarily by the teachers, include sports (netball, football, athletics, cricket), choir, “cook and share,” gardening, art, drama, dance, homework club. The clubs offered to the children do vary from term to term. Some clubs, eg “cook and share”, request a small charge to cover the cost of ingredients/materials.
