What an amazing Book Week!

The children and staff have had a really enjoyable week with a range of activities linked to reading and books. Some classes have visited Redhill library, many others enjoyed story sessions led by professional storyteller Linda Cotterill. Do ask your child about what they learned and enjoyed most.

A highlight was definitely the visit from Brian Moses, the well-known author and poet. Children and staff were entertained and inspired by his performance of his poems and stories with percussion accompaniment.

Thank you to the many parents who took the opportunity to visit “Travelling Books”. Your purchases for your children earned the school over £400 in commission, all of which will be spent on books for the classrooms so your children benefit twice!

Thank you, also, to everyone who attended the “Helping your child with their reading” events. The positive comments from those who came were very encouraging. Particular thanks to Mrs Stokes and Mrs Everness who organised and led the meetings.

It is really important for your child that they read regularly at home. Children who read regularly achieve more and become more confident. As with any skill regular practice is the key to improvement! Please, too, take the opportunity to visit your local library from where your children (and parents!) can borrow a wide range of books for free.
