  • Educate children in the Christian faith, nurturing individual’s awareness of spirituality, whilst respecting other faiths
  • Work together as a team towards common goals for the benefit of all children
  • Promote clear and consistent boundaries of social behaviour which foster self-esteem
  • Work together in partnership with parents, the Church and the wider community
  • Teach key skills to enable children to fulfil their potential in future life
St. Matthew's is a Church of England (Aided) co-educational primary school, providing 420 full-time places for pupils aged 5-11 years and 80 part-time nursery places for pupils aged 3+ to 5 years. In addition there is an 11 place special needs support resource, which has facilities for those with physical disabilities and complex needs for pupils aged 7-11.

The school is housed in excellent modern buildings and occupies an extensive and attractive site close to the centre of Redhill. The nursery is a self-contained unit within the school. The main school has 14 classrooms, library, hall equipped for gymnastics, dining area, kitchen and a special needs resource.  The recently completed building work includes a new staff room, a large group room and a therapy room. The grounds consist of playing fields and hard surface play areas providing facilities for a range of physical education activities. There is also an environmental study area. The school is well adapted to provide full access for physically disabled pupils.

As a church school we hope to build the daily life of our school on the foundations of the Christian Faith and this is supported by our connection with St. Matthew's Church and Parish. Clergy are frequent and regular visitors to the school and the children attend services in St. Matthew's Church.

Although we are a Church of England school, we welcome children from other Christian denominations and from other world faiths.
